The Ephemeral City: JR's Visionary Wrap for Paris' Pont Neuf French artist JR has brought a sense of drama and subversion to the oldest bridge in Paris, wrapping it in a massive inflatable "cave" that is both an artwork and a commentary on our times.
This ephemeral tribute to Christo and Jeanne Claude's 1985 wrapping of the Pont Neuf will envelop the entire bridge for three weeks starting June 6th.
The installation consists of 80 fabric arches filled with air, weighing only five tons while spanning 120 meters in length and 18 meters in height.
